We zijn over. Weer op het vaste land van Europa. De ferrytocht was geweldig. Zeer luxueus. Een complete supermarkt, kledingwinkel en parfumerie. Tevens diverse barren en restaurants. Hier kan DFDS nog iets van leren. 115 euro voor 2 personen en een busje voor een vaart van twee uur. We hadden een camping uitgezocht ten zuiden van de hoofdstad Tallin. In het plaatsje Vanamoisa. Van hieruit met de trein naar Tallin. Mooie oude stad. Hier ook naar het Freedom museum geweest en gezien dat het Estse volk tot 1984 (of 1986) onderdrukt is geweest. Estland is modern wel veel tweebaanswegen maar goed berijdbaar. We zijn 2 nachten in Estland gebleven. Hierna door naar Letland. Hier zaten we op een soort hippie camping, camping Zanzibara. Kleinschalig maar zeer gezellig. Ze hadden een pendeldienst naar het station, maar toen wij wilde gaan was er niemand beschikbaar. Maar wij zijn niet voor een gat te vangen dus wij te voet naar het busstation. Kaartje bij de niet al te vriendelijke buschauffeur gekocht en op weg naar Riga de hoofdstad van Letland. Ook een heel mooie stad. Een hele grote markt en gezelliger als Tallin. We hebben bij het presidentiële paleis de wisseling van de wacht nog live meegemaakt. Wel ffe goed opletten waar de bus stopt voor de terugweg, maar nema problema. Ook hier zijn we twee nachtjes gebleven. Ook Letland ziet er welvarend uit met goede wegen. Het werd anders toen we naar Lithouwen reden. Slechte tweebaans wegen vol met gaten en armoedige dorpjes. Hier hadden we een camping (Harmonie) uitgezocht enkele km’s ten zuiden van de hoofdstad Vilnius. De camping viel me tegen, geen wifi, geen netwerk voor de mobiele telefoon beschikbaar en heul veul vliegen. Maar hier hadden we wel een pendeldienst van en naar het station. Dus zijn we afgelopen zondag met de trein naar de hoofdstad gegaan. Ook wel een mooie stad met heel veel kerken en kathedralen. Het was een zware excursie want het was 32 graden. Maar dit ook weer overleefd en ‘s avonds de spullen gepakt om de volgende dag naar Polen te reizen. Maar daarover volgende week meer.

Latvia also looks prosperous with good roads. Things changed when we drove to Lithuania. Bad two-lane roads full of holes and shabby villages. Here we had selected a campsite (Harmonie) a few km’s south of the capital Vilnius. The campsite was disappointing, no wifi, no network for the mobile phone available and a lot of foal flying. But here we did have a shuttle service to and from the station. So last Sunday we went by train to the capital. Also a beautiful city with many churches and cathedrals.
